LINEAR SCALE FOR MINIATURIZATION APPLICATIONS |

 Heidenhain Corp. has announced the LIDA 500 series 20-µm incremental linear scales. Units offer measuring steps of 1 µm to 0.1 µm. The LIDA 583 and LIDA 573 have two smaller scanning fields with double-field scanning. In order to compensate for the known disadvantages of small scanning fields, the signal is corrected online electronically, thus producing better signals, the company says.
The series feature glass scales as the measuring standard and each encoder has a reference mark at the midpoint. They also feature a ± 5 um accuracy grade and offer 1 Vpp or TTL interfaces.
