SPIRAL PATTERN FORMING FASTENING PDF Print E-mail
ImageThe Orbital forming technique is said to offer advantages over other methods of fastening, yet there are occasions where it may not be the optimal solution. It is for these delicate and lighter duty applications that the Orbitform Group has engineered a Spiralform cartridge into its standard product line. The cartridge displaces material using an eleven-sided spiral pattern similar to those created by the old Spirograph drawing toy.

As the forming tool contacts the surface, material uniformly flows out from the centre, providing what is said to be superior strength and surfacing. A versatile process, Spiralform can be used on: Ferrous and non-ferrous metals; die cast materials; case-hardened fasteners; ceramics, glass, and other delicate materials and assemblies. The cartridges are available for new machines and systems, as well as to retrofit Orbitform machines.
