After Mitsubishi`s i-MiEV (pronounced i-MEEV), the world's first electric car to cross Canada, touched the Pacific and Atlantic Ocean, Koji Soga, President and CEO of Mitsubishi Motor Sales of Canada drove Mitsubishi`s no compromise electric vehicle, nicknamed Sparky, across the "finish line" to kick off the opening of the 2010 Electric Vehicle Conference and Trade Show in Vancouver, British Columbia.

"We are excited to have Sparky and Zippy our zero emission vehicles showcased at this year's conference, said Koji Soga, President and CEO of Mitsubishi Motor Sales of Canada. The Clean Across Canada Tour is the first step in our launch plan for the i-MiEV in Canada. As we crossed the country with Sparky and Zippy we were overwhelmed by the support we received for our production electric vehicle. By the time we introduce the car next year in Canada we know Canadians will be ready to drive clean with no compromise".

Sparky and the other production vehicle Zippy, left Cape Spear National Historic Site in St John's Newfoundland Labrador on August 17 and completed approximately 7,500 km in 28 days as the Clean Across Canada Tour wound its way across the country educating Canadian consumers about the benefits and capability of electric vehicles. The i-MiEV, as the production vehicle is known for its four key innovations that make it a no compromise urban vehicle.

The tour was supported by a team of dedicated corporate sponsors and partners assisting Mitsubishi and showcasing their commitments. Sponsors and partners include Eaton Canada, Lithium Americas, Yokohoma Tire, Sirius Satellite Radio, Bullfrog Power, Clarion and Right to Play and Hydro Quebec, Ontario Power Generation, ENMAX and BC Hydro- provincial sponsors.
