RuggedCom selected for China's largest photovoltaic power plant
Written by Dan Comand January 03, 2012RuggedCom Inc. has been selected by Nari-Relays Electric Co., Ltd. to provide a communications network for the implementation of the 200 MW Golmud Photovoltaic Plant, which is the largest photovoltaic plant in China and one of the largest photovoltaic plants in the world.
Due to the fast paced nature of the project, the communications solution needed to be specified and implemented within a two-week period. With that and other geographical conditions in mind, like Golmud's average yearly air temperature range (-33°C to 35°C), the team at Nari-Relays Electric Co., Ltd. decided on RuggedCom's industry leading and award winning RuggedSwitch family of utility grade Ethernet switches used for implementing mission critical control networks in harsh environments.
"RuggedCom products have demonstrated outstanding performance in numerous smart substations and wind farms throughout China," stated Rudi Carolsfeld, Vice President of Sales for RuggedCom's Asia-Pacific region. "The Golmud Photovoltaic Plant is located in a desert area subject to severe sandstorms and dramatic temperature variations. Our RuggedRated products are designed to operate continuously in these extreme conditions and we expect they will provide reliable communications for many renewable energy projects like the Golmud Photovoltaic Plant in China."
