Optosecurity attains Standard 2 EU Certification

Optosecurity Inc. announced that, following extensive testing by ECAC, its EU Certified Type C LEDS OptoScreener software upgrade for single-view X-ray machines has attained Standard 2 performance on Smiths 6040i host machines.

This means that thousands of machines deployed across European airports can now be upgradeable to the highest level of Type C performance without the need to be replaced, change the layout of the checkpoints, or change electricity power consumption. Standard 2 is the highest level of detection in the current regulation, and was recently perceived as attainable only with multi-view or CT X-ray machines.

Eric Bergeron, President and CEO, Optosecurity, said "Optosecurity is extremely proud to once again push the limits of engineering performance, especially in the current economic environment where capital expenses need to be optimized, and regulatory requirements are approaching.  We offer airports the opportunity to comply right now with the highest level of Type C performance, while keeping their existing hardware infrastructure which is most of the time already financially amortized.  It's a business case that can't be beat, and is future proof as our offering is compatible with our eVelocityTM software suite that enables important operational efficiencies through remote centralized screening and other value added features."
