National movement aims to narrow Canada's innovation gap

While it's no secret that Canada's global reputation for innovation has dulled over the last decade, there is much that Canadian business leaders and academics can do to regain the luster, say the co-founders of One Million Acts of Innovation - a national movement formed to revitalize the country's spirit of innovation.
"Change happens when individuals can see and hear new ideas that they can relate to their world," says One Million Acts of Innovation co-founder, Taimour Zaman. "Great acts of innovation are actually happening today across Canada; we need to publicize them better to inspire more people to drive change and collectively achieve the tipping point of Canada's full innovation potential."

"We're attempting to create inspiration through open agenda meetings that are driven by the different needs and viewpoints of our participants," says Ted Maulucci, CIO of Tridel and movement co-founder. "It's prime time for Canada to step up to its full innovation capabilities, by acting quickly to implement pragmatic programs that connect individuals across academia, government and private industry."

The mission of One Million Acts of Innovation is to create, record and count one million acts of innovation, by causing a national social movement to improve Canada's global innovation ranking. The movement aims to inspire business, technology, academic, government and community leaders to think differently and innovate collaboratively to create a better future for all Canadians.
