Knovel brings new and enhanced features to the ASME e-Library
Written by Dan Comand December 13, 2010
Knovel announced that members of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) now have access to the latest features offered by Knovel.
Notable functionality includes simplified navigation, improved browsing and user interface, as well as the ability to save and organize frequent searches, titles and content. As a benefit of membership, ASME offers free access to a collection of Knovel's content and interactive tools.
ASME members, comprised of more than 120,000 mechanical engineers and technical professionals, will continue to access Knovel through ASME's e-Library. Members use the e-Library to find answers to technical questions fast, particularly related to material selection and streamlining project documentation. They also take advantage of powerful data analysis tools. Knovel has been offered as a member benefit in ASME's e-Library since 2005.
"We aim to deliver top notch benefits to our members, and Knovel offers an unmatched depth and breadth of validated engineering content that engineers can tap for professional development or work-related research," says Michael Kreisberg, ASME's director of membership development. "Our members regularly access Knovel through our e-Library, indicating it saves time and improves productivity, so we are pleased to provide the latest features available."
In a survey of ASME members announced in 2009, a full one-third (34%) of respondents indicated that using Knovel in the e-Library improved their productivity by 20% or more. More than 600 major corporations and academic institutions turn to Knovel to search the Company's validated content.
"Over the past decade, Knovel has established an extensive network of engineers, including ASME members, that rely on our search, content and interactive tools to solve technical problems quickly," says Delores Meglio, vice president, publisher relations for Knovel. "ASME was one of the first associations to offer Knovel access to its members via its e-Library. This is a valuable benefit because ASME members can access a selection of the same reliable technical information used by world-class organizations and universities that subscribe to Knovel."
