Creaform’s 3D Body Digitizers help scientific project understand human morphology

Written by  Gillian Marsh August 19, 2010

Creaform - a company in 3D technology and engineering services - announced that its 3D Body Digitizers are “generating outstanding and valuable results for a large-scale scientific project on human morphology” led by the University of Calgary.

From the Capturor to the Gemini system, the digitizers create 3D images and are also portable and adaptable to the conditions of where a scan takes place. The University of Calgary has been studying human genetics and morphology for the last few years to benefit the medical field. These digitizers have “proven essential for the study of the genetics of the human face, cleft lip and palate of thousands of Tanzanian children” to help with the study of morphology of different ethnic groups.

Since their release last January, these body digitizers have been tested through many conditions to ensure their durability, according to Creaform - formerly InSpeck’s technology.
