SOLID STATE SWITCH SURVIVES 10 MILLION OPERATIONS
The DS series solid state switch from Cherry Electrical Products uses Hall effect technology to achieve an operating life said to be far beyond that of an ordinary switch. The series is designed to fit into the space of a standard miniature snap-action switch, such as the Cherry D4 series, but the actuating button moves an integrated magnet past a Hall effect IC, causing an output change.
The series is suitable for applications requiring long life, including
joystick sensing, pedal position sensing, and lid/door interlock on a
variety of machines. Units are available with a button actuator or with
a variety of stainless steel actuating levers. Alternative actuator
positions allow the user to select from a broad range of operating
forces and travel distances, depending on the application. Cherry has
successfully tested the DS series to 10 million operations at its
in-house test lab.
The series is designed to be used with a supply voltage of 4.5 to 24 Vdc and a maximum supply current of 15 mA. It is equipped with a sinking output and includes an integrated connector that is designed to mate to AMP connector 10224-1, or equivalent.
