Smallest mobile hydraulic sensor even more compact

MTS Systems Corp., Sensors Division has made its smallest mobile hydraulic sensor, the Temposonics MS linear-position sensor, even more compact by reducing the dead zone length by more than an inch.

The newly designed, more compact MS sensor will replace the previous design, which was already the most compact, embeddable magnetostrictive mobile hydraulic sensor on the market. The MS sensor’s smaller design will enable it to fit into even tighter package spaces, dramatically increasing its range of applications.

Although MTS has reduced the dead zone on the MS sensor by a significant 27mm (1.06"), decreasing its length from 63.5mm (2.5") to 36.5mm (1.44"), the sensor maintains all of the previous design’s reliability specifications.

The new, more compact MS sensor, like the previous design, is an absolute, non-contact, linear-position sensor. Rated for up to 100g of shock and 15g of vibration, the MS sensor was designed for harsh environments, particularly those within construction, agriculture, and other off-highway machinery. Along with the high shock and vibration ratings, the MS sensor features 100V/m EMI protection and provides a measuring range of 50 to 2,000mm (1.97" to 78.7").
