Heidenhain has announced a specialized encoder for press brakes. The model LS 1679 is a sealed linear scale with an integrated roller guide and is available with a resolution of 5 µm or 1 µm after 4-fold evaluation.
The unit is available with left or right cable exit to ensure
mechanical compatibility with press brakes. The four ball bearings of
the carriage are guided along two steel rails which are integrated in
the aluminum housing. The position of the guide in the encoder protects
the bearing surfaces from dust or contamination. Standard measuring
lengths up to 470 mm are available, with longer lengths up to 720 mm
available upon request.
