Flow sensing in fluids with particulates

DPN WEB EXCLUSIVE: George Fischer, Inc. has introduced the Signet 2551 Magmeter, an REPLACEion style electro-magnetic flow sensor intended for conductive fluid applications that contain particles, solids and fibres.

Designed with no moving parts to wear or foul, this flow sensor is said to virtually eliminate maintenance and associated costs. Typical applications include flow monitoring in a wide range of industries such as water and waste treatment, municipal drinking water, public pools and spas, aquariums, scrubbers, cooling towers, plating, beverage manufacturing and power plants.

The unit offers a variety of signal output options and can connect to other Signet instrumentation via a frequency or digital (S3L) signal output. It can be also connected directly to PLCs and other equipment using the 4 to 20 mA output option. K-factor values are available for all standard pipe sizes. Body material choices include PVDF (polyvinylidene) or PP (polypropylene). All units feature stainless steel electrodes and can be mounted into pipe sizes ranging from 0.5 to 0.8 in. (DN15 to DN200) using standard Signet installation fittings to ensure proper REPLACEion depth. Performance characteristics include a dynamic flow range of 0.05 to 10 m/s with repeatability of ±0.5% of reading.
