Brake system for compact linear guides

Bishop-Wisecarver Corporation announced the addition of compact carriage brakes to its popular UtiliTrak linear guide product line.
This new option offers a simple two-component assembly solution for manually securing a carriage to rail in confined spaces.

"This compact brake system is ideal for applications with limited access", said Nigel Watson, Engineering Manager at Bishop-Wisecarver. "Coupled with a hard anodized aluminum body, the brake system provides excellent corrosion resistance, good braking action, and long life."

The brake fixture can easily be retro-fitted by the end-user to existing applications or factory pre-assembled on new systems, and is available in four sizes. A second brake assembly can be installed at the opposite end of the wheel plate for added braking strength.

Brake system components are positioned below the carriage's payload mounting surface to minimize interference, and the angular position of the handle arm can be adjusted to any position without affecting the brake engagement status or level of braking force.
