Rugged modules for OEM's

RuggedCom Inc. announced the launch of the first member of the RuggedInside product family, the RS900M.

The RuggedInsideTM RS900M modules are designed to enable original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to embed rugged Ethernet network communications within their intelligent devices found in the electric power industry, intelligent transportation systems and industrial automation applications. The RuggedInsideTM RS900M modules provide a flexible, embedded network connectivity solution that fully supports operations within a secure, highly reliable, mission-critical, real-time environment.

"Launching RuggedInside with the RS900M enables OEMs to embed mature switching technology quickly and cost effectively", says Jim Slinowsky, Vice President of Marketing for RuggedCom. "It allows an OEM to embed our rugged technology into its own equipment. This is an exciting venture for us and creates new opportunities across all of our core markets. In fact, we are currently in the process of delivering a large number of the RS900Ms to a major North American OEM."

The RuggedInsideTM RS900M modules contain the full-featured Rugged Operating System (ROS®) that is found on all RuggedCom Ethernet switches. Key features include the Enhanced Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol (eRSTPTM) that provides the industry's fastest network fault recovery, advanced networking features such as VLANs, QOS, SNMP and many cyber security functions that can be used to create a secure network.

The RS900M modules are designed specifically for harsh environments and environments that require IEC 61850, IEEE 1613 Class 2 and NEMA TS-2 certifications.
