TPE GRADES BOND TO ETPS

ExxonMobil Chemical has developed Santoprene thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) grades which bond to engineered thermoplastics (ETPs) in overmolding applications. The TPE bonding grades are said to eliminate the need for adhesives, bonding agents and physical or mechanical interlocks. ETP materials include polycarbonate (PC), acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ASS), acrylonitrile styrene acrylate (ASA), acrylic (PMMA) and polyethylene terephthalate (PET) using either two-shot injection molding or REPLACE molding processes.
