Thru this agreement which marks the first ever European sale of D-BOX MFX seats for commercial theatre use, Netherlands-based Jogchem's Theaters, known in the market as JT Bioscopen, plans to equip two movie theatres with 26 D-BOX MFX Seats each, namely at their Heerhugowaard and Amersfoort locations just in time for the holiday movie season. In addition to the sale of these systems, this deal will also generate licensing fees payable to D-BOX in accordance to the systems' utilization.
"As we continue our international growth, FTT will help to accelerate our commercial theatre expansion throughout Europe," stated President and CEO of D-BOX Technologies, Claude McMaster. "This new international distribution model is designed to ensure our steady growth throughout Europe and to confirm D-BOX's status as a true international motion standard. Also, based on our success, we anticipate duplicating this model in other markets around the world where other potential partners are actively being sought."
Thomas Rüttgers, Chairman of the Board of Management of FTT group, added: "Experience shows that many exhibitors recognized the additional value digital cinema offers and are open about new ideas. We think that D-BOX's technology perfectly fit into this current trend. We ran a demo cinema with D-BOX seats at Cinema Expo this year and were overwhelmed by the response we got from exhibitors. The deal with Jogchem's is a good start for the Netherlandsand we are quite confident that some more cinemas throughout Europe will follow this example."
Earlier this year, D-BOX broke through the Asian market with the announcement of two theatres in Japan marking the first international sale of D-BOX motion technology for commercial theatre application. D-BOX MFX Seats are also available in over 30 theatres in the U.S. and Canada.
Mr. J.M. Punt, President of Jogchem's Theaters B.V./JT Bioscopen stated: "Just like D-BOX seats we are moving, moving forward and developing continuously: going digital, including several 3D systems, and now further with D-BOX. We are very happy to be the first and only exhibitor in The Netherlands who can present its visitors this brand new movie experience. We are pleased that this agreement makes it possible to start up in two of our cinemas this year. We look forward to the future."
