Auto parts catalog showcases powder metallurgy (PM) parts

Written by  DPN Staff October 15, 2009
The Metal Powder Industries Federation (MPIF) offers new information on specific PM parts applications in North American, European, and Asian light vehicles under three categories: engine, transmission/transfer case, and body/chassis. The information was compiled in a two-year study conducted by the MPIF Technical Board and released in a PM Automotive Parts Catalog.

The catalog contains listings of more than 300 applications representing more than 750 individual parts in various sub-systems, such as gasoline and diesel engines, hybrid electric motors, automatic and manual transmissions, axle-differentials, and steering, suspension, and brake systems.

As a living document to be updated regularly, the catalog listings will identify new PM applications in all types of light vehicles as they are introduced in new model years.
