TROY, MI-based global industrial design/ styling software company solidThinking, Inc. (www.solidthinking.com) has signed Javelin Technologies Inc. (www.javelin-tech.com) to market, sell and support solidThinking - an industrial design product design tool - in Ontario and the Atlantic Canadian provinces.
Oakville, ON-based Javelin Technologies, a Canadian supplier of 3D design and manufacturing software and services, is the latest software provider to join solidThinking’s growing roster of international value-added resellers (VAR). “As solidThinking’s first VAR in Canada, Javelin Technologies is pleased to em√Ǭ≠power industrial designers with software that helps them creatively, quickly and cost-effectively materialize their ideas in the digital space,” said John Carlan, man√Ǭ≠aging director at Javelin Technologies (at right in photo).
Carlan emphasized that the product doesn’t compete with another “solid” program that Javelin supports for design engineers, SolidWorks. The solidThinking product, which runs on Macintosh com√Ǭ≠puters, opens up a new market segment for Javelin in the Apple user community.
Robert Little, president of solidThinking (left in photo), calls his product a powerful tool “only” for industrial designers that offers most of the functionality of Autodesk AliasStudio at a much lower price point. Little added that the NURBS-based 3D conceptual design software also offers industrial designers “40 to 60% productivity improvements” through a number of features, including an advanced construction tree history that enables users to change their minds anytime during the design process.
